Sickness...creeping...
Sickness has limited my time this week…trying to organize digital distribution for Penny’s first two releases (what, I didn’t mention those before?) as well as one-sheets for said releases have been punctuated by high-fever vomiting sessions and sever headaches, so if this post smells a bit odd, that’s why
Anyway, since I can hardly think straight, I thought I’d use previous thinking and other people’s ideas to make up for my own lack of imagination...(how novel, I hear you cry!)
Below are a bunch of Web 2.0 initiatives which I’ll either be using or think that artists would find very useful when releasing a new record. They’re in no particular order (like I said, me < ordered thinking) Let me know if you’ve any websites that I could add to this list:
SonicBids: The founders of the electronic press kit – a standard if you wish to be considered for many U.S. festivals.
Talentfilter: An exceptionally well researched
A&R blog – If nothing else, it’s interesting to hear what
mainstream “undiscovered” talent sounds like.
DiscRevolt: Little plastic cards with your album art and a code for digital music. Use your imagination.
Tunecore: DIY digital distribution. Low overhead, good service.
IODA: Less DIY digital dist.
Indie focused and tech savvy. Also offer the excellent PromoNet, which
provides bloggers/podcasters etc. with pre-cleared tracks for use on
their pages.
Mashable’s Podcasting Toolbox: 70+ resources to help you Podcast audio/video, even if you’ve never even listened to one.
Mashable’s Essential Audio Websites: 90+ websites that can help you get heard. Essential stuff.
Emusic Label Relations: How eMusic does business. If you cared…
20 Things You Must Know About Music Online: From Andrew Dubber over at New Music Strategies. Some very interesting stuff, quick read.
Now if that wasn't scattershot, I don't know what was. Yergh. Sorrysorrysorry.
